What amazing people we have @ DAVID D.I.

When I was new to D.I. I always thought what makes it so successful at David? Why the same parents and children want to be a part of it again and again? Why some teachers really took interest in this program and HOW Wendy could pull it together every year single-handedly?  I guess I found out last Thursday (dec. 2nd) When I reached the mini gym, I was told that a Manager's son got hurt in the playground and she had to take a quick trip to the pharmacy and I was completely prepared to fill in for her but when i was waiting for her 4th grade team ,I could see Raj walking briskly towards me ! I saw her son Aryan's cheeck and nose badly bruised and asked if they wanted to go back but I was amazed to hear that she wanted to stay with her team and coach !!! Aryan told me he was fine and excited about the meeting and didn't want to miss it !
 Although I tried checking on the team as many times as I could but they all looked very determined, fully engrossed in their project.KUDOS to Raj and Aryan and all team members for being such good sports.Guys I am so PROUD of you and love you for the dedication and love you showed for your project.
   This is exactly what we try to teach the D.I. kids : team work, dedication, responsibility , problem solving,ability to manage change and this 4th grade team has accompalished all that !! Good job everyone.

No meeting today

Its Cookie dough pick up day @ David Elementary and we have to skip the D.I. meeting but many of us are meeting over the weekend to catch up on their missed time !  and one of the teams already met yesterday afterschool ! Good job !
  This year we have fewer weeks /meetings till the tournament so its really important to use the time wisely.Make up for the meetings and convince the parents who aren't very keen on off-campus meetings !
We also have to reiterate the importance of discipline during the pick up time. Last week was a mess !!!
   Please remember that all the Manager's children stay indoors by the front office while others  sit out at the respective grades spots.

OCT 28th

As I had a crazy day( and night) so I couldn't be at the meeting today.Thanks Karen and Wendy for filling in for me !Hope the 2nd & 4th graders were finally able to pick a challenge that they want to proceed with !! Managers PLEASE send me the final decisions latest by tomorrow.
   We all need to use time wisely and get the teams brainstorming for their Team Names.FEEL FREE to use this blog to announce your team's name.
Don't forget to email the parents about today's meeting !

3rd Graders NOT meeting on Oct 28th.

As the 3rd Grade has a Music Program scheduled for 6:00 p.m for oct 28th, the  3rd grade D.I. teams will not meet that day.The managers will contact teh parents and make up for the skipped meeting sometimes soon :)

what a day it was !

Hi Ladies,
   I survived the meeting and didnt even end up in E.R today !!Thanks to my friends who worked so well with their teams ! Honestly i was expecting a lot of chaos and it wasn't bad at all:) wink wink !!
  I salute some of the managers who had to deal with the hardest meeting all by themselves!!Kudos to you ! Also some of the new D.I. managers who claimed they didnt "have a clue" ( yeah ! I am talking about YOU here!!) did very well !
   I tried to accomodate as many teams in the rooms as possible and some had to even move around! I sure will raise this concern for a couple team managers who are still not quite comfortable with their assigned spots.( Quick tip: Try contacting your child's or a team member's home room teacher directly and see if she lets you use her room ) Hey but you didnt hear it from me,ok?
    I encourage all my Followers ( Hail the D.I. QUEEN) to please share their comments with us! Tell us how you feel, what needs to be improvised and what problems you faced....how did your 1st meeting go? I'd love that.
   Reminder: its easier for me to write here than to send out emails, so encourage your partner ( no not that one) The D.I. partner to follow this blog too :) Re: sending the note to the teacher every week didnt  generally seem to be a popular idea ! OK.Lets make it ONE note to the teacher so she has no excuse not to release your child to the managers.I did send a complete and comprehensive participant list to the front office and Asst. Principal !!!
   Now that you have the emails for your group, introduce yourself to the parents and talk about the meeting today.If you experienced any behaviour issues today, please be very "smart" in phrasing your sentences ! Never had been scared of a Thursday Before !!

Its was a dark and scary night ......Yeah it is kinda scary for me tonight! I had a pretty busy day and with my dental work (unexpected due to an accident yesterday)  b/w A lunch with family, girl's tests tomorrow, H.W to return ,helping a friend pack for their move to canada, re arranging the teams over and over, confirming with the managers, making sure all of them got the agenda, IC's and the details, confirming the rooms available with Mrs Mc Carthy and shopping for my youngest's friends birthday present, cooking for tomorrow,finalizing the playgroup schedule and then finding two additional ones! Sending them separate emails of how to sign up and what to expect I THINK i accomplished enough for one day but I still have to format the final copy of the Roster !!!
   Have to be at school tomorrow at 2:00 fully prepared for all questions of School admin. and parents and my talented managers ! Get the rooms ready for the teams and ....will talk about tomorrow later( gives me the chills :)
   If I look sick tomorrow please don't be surprised ! I salute Wendy for doing it  5 years in a row without being admitted to mental ward ONCE !! Now I cant promise ya''ll that for myself :)
   OK D.I. here I come.....So help me GOD :)
